KZN EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said that the man, 40, was killed in the Chief Sithole area, about 6km from Dundee on the Greytown Road.

“Paramedics treated at least 15 other patients from separate lightning related incidents in the district. Most of these patients were in a serious condition and were transported to hospitals in the district.

“This was the second night in a row that paramedics from the KZN Department of Health's Emergency Medical Services responded to incidents related to a storm in the Umzinyathi District,” he added.
