Police forensic teams are combing a Phoenix home following the triple murder of a mother and her daughters.

The Longcroft Drive mother and her daughters, believed to be aged 16 and 22, were killed on Friday morning inside a bustling residential complex in the area.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane confirmed the murders and said investigators were still assessing and gathering evidence.

A resident inside the complex, who did not want to be named, said there were constant patrols and good security in the area.

"It is shocking that this happened. Even our security were not aware of this. They patrol the area and ensure our safety. Right now, we cannot understand how this happened. Everyone is scared and shocked."

Two weeks ago, the body of nine-year-old Miguel Louw was found less than a kilometre from the area where the triple murder took place.

More to follow.
