Cape Town - The trial of Cameron Wilson, accused of murdering teenager Lekita Moore in Valhalla Park, is set to take place in February, the Western Cape High Court heard on Thursday.

During court proceedings Wilson, who wore a wooden crucifix around his neck, listened to prosecutor Carine Teunissen explain that his lawyer still needed to receive some outstanding documents.

“But the State is ready to proceed,” said Teunissen.

Moore's body was found in a veld in Nooitgedacht on September 12. She had been on her way to a karaoke party in Valhalla Park when she was last seen.

The 18-year-old was stabbed 98 times. Parts of her genitals and one breast were cut off.

Wilson was out on bail in connection with another case when she was killed.

When court proceedings ended on Thursday, Moore's relatives and friends in the public gallery applauded the decision to keep Wilson behind bars.

Outside court they held posters asking that bail be denied.
