Durban – A 23-year-old pilot has been killed after the light aircraft he was flying crashed at the Port Elizabeth airport on Saturday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said reports from the scene indicated that the aircraft crashed soon after take-off.

“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the Cherokee crashed at the parameter fence and burst into flames. Tragically, the pilot a 23-year-old man died due to the extensive injuries that he sustained.”
