Johannesburg – Five more suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a game farmer who was killed in Rooiberg near Bela Bela on Saturday have been arrested, Limpopo police said.

“On Saturday a 29-year-old suspect was apprehended at Bela Bela and later on, one suspect was found in Rooiberg and three more were apprehended in Pretoria,” said Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

Ledwaba said the six suspects face charges of murder, possession of stolen property and unlawful possession of firearm.

Ledwaba said the 53-year-old farmer who was killed was asleep when intruders broke into his house and overpowered him.

Ledwaba said preliminary investigations showed that the deceased may have been strangled, however a post-mortem will determine the cause of death.

"The stolen safe with contents namely [a] firearm, ammunition and undisclosed amount of cash were also recovered in the bushes outside Bela Bela."

The six will appear at the Bela Bela Magistrate’s court on November 16.
