Polokwane – A man will appear in court on Friday after apparently entering the KFC in Marble Hall around lunch time and smashing equipment.

Without any apparent reason, he smashed windows and broke the ice cream machine and tills, said local police spokesperson Constable Lethunya Mmuroa.

“The damage is estimated to be more than R250 000,” he said.

Officers were called to the scene and found him bleeding from the injuries he sustained during the rampage.

He was taken to hospital under police guard.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto said the incident happened around lunch on Tuesday.

She said the man, believed to be in his twenties, was apparently discharged from hospital on Thursday afternoon.

He was appearing in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning for malicious damage to property.

KFC Africa managing director Doug Smart said they were aware of the incident.

“We have handed it over to the relevant authorities and we are cooperating with them during the investigations.”
