Polokwane - Police are trying to track down a member of the Limpopo provincial legislature who allegedly assaulted two people at a political party meeting in Jane Furse on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed that officers were still trying to trace the "well-known" suspect.

"It is alleged that the suspect and the two victims were having a political meeting at Lefa complex in Jane Furse when an argument ensued. The suspect started to assault the two victims with fists and open hands," he said.

"The two victims sustained bruises on their faces during this incident and they were taken to the local clinic for medical treatment. The suspect is a well-known community leader and a member of the provincial legislature," Ngoepe added.
