A 31-year-old woman was crushed to death at Venetia Mine in Alldays in Limpopo on Sunday, police said on Monday.

The woman has been identified as Maggie Demakatso Semata.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Semata fell onto a conveyor belt at the mine.

"The conveyor belt ultimately dragged her into a stone scrubber, where her body was found trapped between the rocks with multiples wounds," he added.

A culpable homicide case has been opened and investigations are ongoing.
