Cyril Ramaphosa has won the race to become the new ANC president. David Mabuza has won the race to be his deputy. See who else filled positions on the ANC's top six.


After a marathon day, the African National Congress has elected a new president: Cyril Ramaphosa.

The other members of the ANC top six include:

- Deputy president: David Mabuza,

- National chairperson: Gwede Mantashe,

- Secretary general: Ace Magashule,

- Deputy secretary general: Jessie Duarte,

- Treasurer general: Paul Mashatile.

The Freedom Front Plus wants newly-elected president of the ANC, Cyril Ramaphosa, to recall President Jacob Zuma before February 2018.

Rampahosa should be the one delivering the State of the Nation Address on February 8, FF Plus leader Dr Pieter Groenewald said in a statement on Tuesday.

The election of Cyril Ramaphosa as the new president of the African National Congress (ANC) is "too little too late" for the party, the Democratic Alliance (DA) said in a statement on Monday.

"The ANC is dead and cannot self-correct, no matter who is at the helm," DA leader Mmusi Maimane said in a statement shortly after the result was announced.
