04 Sep 16:03
Meshoe says we must first deal with corruption in the land reform processes, before we can talk about expropriation of land with compensation.

04 Sep 16:02
Who will pay for the loans to the banks, should land owned by people with tittle deeds is expropriated without compensation, asks Meshoe.

He says land owned by religious leaders should be protected because "they are doing a good job in their communities".

04 Sep 15:59
The ACDP'S Kenneth Meshoe argues that before we argue about land expropriation without compensation, we should talk about which land will be expropriating without compensation.

04 Sep 15:55
Cosatu argues that those who didn't acquire their land through "market value" should not compensated through "market value". They say that land owners should not be paid millions of rand for it if they did not pay millions of rand for it.

04 Sep 15:49
Parks responded by saying that the EFF confuses rudeness with political militancy. He said that he would not be dragged to that because that's the EFF's "modus operandi". Adding that Cosatu is a diverse organisation representing many different people.

04 Sep 15:46
The EFF says Cosatu, "which represents the majority of black people", is being represented by a white person. The EFF said the white representative of Cosatu represent "the views of white people".

04 Sep 15:29
Cosatu says it supports government's plan to expropriate land without expropriation.

04 Sep 15:14
The hearings have adjourned for a tea break.

Context matters, so let expropriation be tested in courts first

Whenever I am despondent about the world, I go and sit in the Constitutional Court, my hope giving place. I have a similar feeling here today. Maybe it is because the things that both have in common are the Constitution and democracy-in-action, both very important reasons why we are here today. The very basis that this conversation is built on.
