Opposition leaders present united front after motion fails - As it happened

Get the latest details as Members of Parliament debate a motion to remove President Jacob Zuma after last week's Constitutional Court ruling.

IN SUMMARY: - A motion brought by the DA to to remove President Jacob Zuma from office failed, with 233 MPs voting against it and 143 voting in favour.The vote came after hours of debate and speeches such as that of DA leader Mmusi Maimane who said corruption had infected the ANC "like a cancer".

- Opposition MPs and leaders then addressing the media outside the House said they will write to the speaker that there must be disciplinary process against Zuma. He says they will working together.

- Meanwhile, it also emerged that former finance minister Trevor Manuel, one of the ANC's top members, also wants Zuma to resign.

- Just as proceedings began, opposition MPs demanded that National Speaker Baleka Mbete not chair the session. The House broke while party chief whips discussed the matter and it was decided to allow Mbete to continue in the seat.
