The pictures are being used to indicate that pathologists' measurement of ligature mark on Susan Rohde's body.

Coetzee-Khan recorded ligature was 1495mm from patient's heel (doesn't say left or right).

Perumal said he measured 95ml left side, 65ml on right side.

Abrahams says skin is a vital organ and can be harvested after death and used for transplant, so if imprint of ligature placed after death, can expect some cellular action, but need more study. Defence says histology would have helped (State did no histology).

Back to the colour of the ligature mark on Susan Rohde. Defence and State arguing over whether colour of mark on the skin can tell whether placed before or after death.

The pathologist insists that Susan Rohde's injuries were not in the same place as the ligature mark found on her. All marks  the State saw fit conclusively to manual forceful strangulation to the neck. The ligature was partial, incomplete and put on after death.

Pathologist Abrahams denies that the State missed a mark on the back of Susan's neck.

We are back to the hypostasis on Susan Rohde's body. This is what happens to fluid in body after death.

Abrahams says if there had been rib fracture after Susan Rohde's death (re possible CPR injury), there might have been minimal seepage of blood, because no circulation. Blood may just flow out of the site due to gravitational flow, not circulatory flow.

Dr Abrahams is taken to task for her use of adjectives such as severe, prominent, pronounced, signficant in her report on Susan Rohde's autopsy. Coetzee-Khan (who did the autopsy) was straight to the point, no adjectives, says VD Spuy.

Abrahams could not find the picture immediately. Will find it later.

 Back after tea.

Defence says injuries to cornua of the thyroid cartilage may occur in hanging and manual strangulation, but not necessarily, and pathologist Abrahams agrees.

Dr Abrahams says that in suicidal ligature hangings there are usually very minimal injuries. In Susan #Rohde found clear signs of manual strangulation, but under the actual ligature mark on her neck there was no sign of haemorrhaging.

#Rohde defence VD Spuy moves on to what he describes as "various physical brawls" between Susan and Jason in the hours leading up to her death.

VD Spuy questions whether the dental mark might have happened to Susan #Rohde during CPR.

04 Dec 10:48
Defence wants to know exactly where pathologist Coetzee-Khan noted Susan #Rohde's bite mark on lip. His boss Dr Abrahams points to pg 6 of his report which says "there is teeth indendation". VD Spuy says it doesn't say "there are". Abrahams concedes grammar error.

The #Rohde defence rejects Dr Abrahams' smothering and strangulation contention.

VD Spuy says his expert says palour cannot be used to decide whether there was smothering or strangulation. Abrahams says the expert must come and testify to that view.

#Rohde defence says she is being unscientific and he will draw on experts to prove this.

04 Dec 10:25
Asked how she thinks Susan #Rohde died, Abrahams says manual strangulation was first cause of death, supported by external airway obstruction and smothering as "supporting" cause. Either could have caused death on their own, she says.
