The committee tasked with appointing the replacement for Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has met to deliberate on the final five preferred candidates and reached a consensus.

The final five candidates for the role of the next public protector are Sharise Weiner, Siraj Desai, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, Muvhango Lukhaimane, and Bongani Majola. The ad-hoc committee will reconvene at 13:00 on August 24 to discuss the shortlisted candidates.
