I don't see why I should resign. I never appointed myself. I am waiting for the letter to say you have worked thus far, can you please step down.

07 Dec 16:02

Professor Mbulaheni Maguvhe:

When am I resigning?

In 2013 I got an appointment letter from the appointing authority that I must serve on the board. To date, I haven't received any letter that says that my service is terminated. If the appointing authority no longer needs my services I am sure the letter will be coming from them to me.

Hlaudi Motsoeneng answering questions:

There is a board at SABC using the companies act. The chairperson must stand for the truth.

The ad hoc committee to their credit tried to look for information and deal with issues.

We are willing as long as there is fairness. We want to face this inqury but have problems with peole who pre-judge.

Lucky Thekisho answers first:

We have indicated that he (chairperson) is not willing to appear before an ad hoc committee that is poisoned and disregard and disrespect his rights.

Question time now.

They have to make recommendations and findings. If that is the case, natural justice must prevail.

07 Dec 15:27

We have a legal opinion in terms of approach. It’s not advisable for them to continue until our appeal dealt with.

07 Dec 15:26

We are of the view that up to now it has not been fair.

We are further dismayed and shocked in the manner in which the chair was treated by committee that claims it is holier than thou.

07 Dec 15:25

Lucky Thekisho, an attorney, is up next.

07 Dec 15:24

It sounded more like a kangaroo court than an inquiry.

07 Dec 15:24

People who said we have walked out - we were defending the rights of the chair of the SABC board. The rights of the chair were violated this morning.

07 Dec 15:23

Hlaudi Motsoeneng is done.

Next speaker is Nhloyi Phaka.

07 Dec 15:22

07 Dec 15:21

We are not afraid to go there and deal with the issues but want a fair process.

07 Dec 15:20

We respect the ad hoc committee, but we are saying people need to give us an opportunity to deal with sensitive issues.

07 Dec 15:19

07 Dec 15:19

We must cater for all 11 languages, which we do through the 90% local content.

07 Dec 15:18

Those people who still need to be empowered are prioritised, but we still do business with white people.

07 Dec 15:17

07 Dec 15:17

The ad hoc committee should not fall into the trap where they are sued by people with agendas.

07 Dec 15:14

Motsoeneng says if they knew the committee would keep documents of commercial nature confidential, they would hand it over.

07 Dec 15:13

Many are being retrenched at certain media houses. Not at the SABC. That is a good story to tell.

07 Dec 15:13

Meanwhile in the parliamentary inquiry:

07 Dec 15:12

That this is the agenda of some media and political parties to destroy the SABC.

07 Dec 15:12

I am concerned about this hullabaloo of media playing a role of misleading the country.

07 Dec 15:11

07 Dec 15:11

How can my name be all over but I am not invited to deal with these issues in the committee?

07 Dec 15:10

Other countries are using SABC as a benchmark.
