KZN man hacked to death on a farm on #BlackMonday

A 73-year-old man has been hacked to death on a farm in Vryheid, northern KwaZulu-Natal as the #BlackMonday protest against farm murders continues around the country.

Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala told News24 that the suspect also died when he crashed the deceased's Ford Bantam bakkie into an electricity pole.

Truck crashes into #BlackMonday protesters on N4

A multi-vehicle crash resulted in two people suffering serious injuries after a truck collided with a group of protestors on the N4 outside of Middleburg, Mpumalanga on Monday.

Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety spokesperson Joseph Mabuza told News24 police are on the scene and that the two people who were seriously injured were taken to a local hospital.

"There was a roadblock [on the highway] due to protests," he said."The driver of the truck failed to stop the truck on time by the time he saw the protestors and crashed into the cars.

More cars piled on as they crashed into him from behind," Mabuza explained.

Two people seriously injured in Middleburg crash

Two people suffered serious injuries, while one other had only moderate injuries after a thirteen-vehicle crash outside of Middleburg in Mpumalanga.

"It is understood that a driver of a truck apparently lost control, causing the vehicle to crash into several others during an apparent protest action," ER24 said in a statement on Monday.

Paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene on the N4 before 11:00.

"Upon further inspection, paramedics found that ten vehicles and three trucks were completely blocking the entire one side of the road. Several vehicles were found overturned on the grassy embankment."

Paramedics treated the patients who were transported to a nearby hospital in Middelburg for further treatment.

The road was closed off, with traffic diverted.

Three people were left injured this morning following a thirteen-vehicle collision on the N4, approximately 5km outside of Middleburg in Mpumalanga.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at approximately 10h40.

Upon further inspection, paramedics found that ten vehicles and three trucks were completely blocking the entire one side of the road.

Several vehicles were found overturned on the grassy embankment.Local law enforcement began to close off the road and divert the traffic while paramedics assessed the patients.

Two people were found to have sustained serious injuries while one other had only moderate injuries.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided the seriously injured with pain-relief medication.

Once treated, the patients were transported to a nearby hospital in Middelburg for further treatment.

It is understood that a driver of a truck apparently lost control, causing the vehicle to crash into several others during an apparent protest action.Local authorities will be investigating this matter further.
