Durban - Looters raided a beer truck which had overturned on the N2 near Mtunzini in KZN while the driver lay trapped and badly injured inside, the Zululand Observer reported on Sunday.

It is understood that the truck had struck a stationary minibus taxi, causing it to veer from the road and overturn, spilling its hoppy cargo.

KZN EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said that the driver of the truck had sustained serious injuries.

"The truck driver was treated and stabilised by paramedics at the roadside before he was moved by ambulance to the Ngwelazane for further medical care."

The paper also reported that the N2 on the north coast was closed for several hours while the scene was cleared.
