Cape Town – A Cape Town man was arrested after officers discovered a warehouse of illegal gambling machines, Western Cape police said on Wednesday.

Officers found 27 slot machines, valued at around R405 000, during a raid on Tuesday morning, said Captain FC van Wyk.

Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board inspectors had identified unlicensed gambling activities in the Transwerk Industrial Park in Salt River.

Together with local police officers, they executed a search warrant and confiscated the machines.

A 56-year-old man was alone on the premises at the time of the raid.

He would face multiple charges relating to the possession and manufacturing of gambling machines when he appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
