Kimberley – Four men were arrested in connection with the murder of a 73-year-old man in Galeshewe, Northern Cape police said on Sunday.

The victim was abducted while driving into the driveway of his house, said police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana.

He was discovered by a passer-by last Sunday near a sewage pump in Galashewe. He had been strangled to death. His feet and hands were tied.

The alleged killers fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

One of the four suspects was arrested in KwaZulu-Natal earlier last week after he was found in possession of the deceased’s vehicle.

The other three suspects were arrested in Galeshewe on Friday, he said.

They were found with two unlicensed firearms and the money they had allegedly stolen from the deceased.

Aged between 28 and 35, they are facing charges of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

They are expected to appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate's Court on Monday.
