Butterworth - A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a murder at a traditional ceremony in Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said.

Two men apparently had a misunderstanding which resulted in one stabbing the other, Captain Jackson Manatha said in a statement.

The crime took place on Saturday afternoon at the Lower Mpenduza Village.

The man, aged 25, died instantly after he was stabbed in the upper body.

Police arrested the suspect shortly afterwards.

He is due to appear in the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of murder.
