Johannesburg - A man, aged 24, has been arrested for the rape of a 20-year old woman in Willowvale, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.

The woman was apparently walking home in Willowvale on Friday night around 10:00 when she was attacked.

"The victim met with the suspect who dragged her to his flat, also at Willowvale town," said Captain Jackson Manatha in a statement.

He then allegedly raped her. The woman later reported the crime to the police and was able to identify the suspect and his flat, leading to his arrest.

He will appear in the Willowvale Magistrate's Court on Monday.
