Police have arrested a 43-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his wife on Sunday, before rushing her to a clinic, where she was confirmed dead on arrival.

According to police, the suspect and his 33-year-old wife had a misunderstanding at their home in Nkelekethe Village, Willowvale, Eastern Cape at around 17:00.

The suspect drew his knife and stabbed the wife on her upper body. When he discovered that the victim was bleeding profusely, he decided to take the wife to the Dutywa Health Centre, spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said in a statement.

The victim was confirmed dead on arrival.
