Pretoria- A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Krugersdorp after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, said the man was arrested in the Soul City informal settlement of Kagiso.

“Krugersdorp SAPS received information about the suspect walking around carrying a firearm at Soul City threatening people. The police went there but the suspect was not home. The anonymous caller promised to call again when he [saw] the suspect,” she said.

True to his word, the informant contacted police in the afternoon when he saw the man again. Police went to his house and arrested him.

“On arrival, the police found the suspect at his home. The suspect was searched and the members found an unlicensed firearm in his possession. The serial number had been tampered with. The 27-year-old was detained at Krugersdorp SAPS and he'll appear at Krugersdorp Magistrate court soon,” she said.
