Johannesburg – A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder of Anika Smit, who was killed in 2010, Gauteng police said on Saturday.
The man handed himself over to the police on Friday, said Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.
“He said he had some information regarding the murder of Smit,” Dlamini said.
The man was expected to appear in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Smit was found brutally murdered in her father's house in Pretoria's Theresa Park on March 10, 2010. She had been sexually assaulted and her hands cut off. The hands were never recovered.
