Cape Town – The husband of the arrested Petina Coetzee, who is accused of putting a hit out on him, has submitted to the court that he be allowed contact with his wife.

The couple sat at opposite ends of the court bench in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court, before Coetzee appeared in the dock on Tuesday.

The court heard that Austin Coetzee, 67, had submitted an affidavit requesting that his wife's bail conditions be relaxed so that contact could be allowed between them for the sake of their children and their business interests.

The State opposed the application, and the matter was postponed to March 30 for decision.

The 44-year-old accused was arrested in a police sting two months ago, after she allegedly tried to arrange her husband's murder.

She was arrested in the parking lot at the Lansdowne railway station in Cape Town, following information received by Manenberg police.

She has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

She is out on R30 000 bail.

According to prosecutor Christiaan De Jongh, the investigation had been completed.
