Johannesburg – A man died after he was set alight in Olifantsfontein, just north of Johannesburg, on Tuesday.

The incident happened on the R21 offramp, with paramedics saying that nothing could be done to save the man who was believed to have been set alight. He was found with his feet bound with wire.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the fire was already extinguished when paramedics arrived at the scene.

"Paramedics were called to the scene and, on arrival, found that fire services had already extinguished what seemed to be a small fire."

The man was declared dead on the scene.

The details surrounding the incident are not yet known, although the South African Police Service were at the scene to investigate.
