Man collapses, dies while cleaning factory

Cape Town – A man collapsed and died while cleaning a factory in Worcester in the Western Cape, paramedics said.

The man, believed to be in his late 40s, died on Saturday afternoon, ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said. 

Vermaak said shortly before 15:00 paramedics from ER24, Breedevalley Fire and Metro Rescue arrived on the scene where they found the man still inside the factory.

Vermaak said bystanders explained that the man was busy cleaning an area when he collapsed.

His co-workers performed CPR on him, however, paramedics continued their assessment and treatment when they arrived on scene.

The man was declared dead on scene. He was removed from the area where he worked. The exact cause for the man’s death will be investigated.
