Durban – One man died and another was wounded in two separate stabbings in Margate, on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, paramedics said on Saturday.

Netcare911 spokesperson Chris Botha said that in the early hours of Saturday, paramedics responded to an incident in which a man was found unresponsive by an off-duty paramedic along Marine Drive in Margate.

The 25-year-old man had a large laceration to the top of his arm. He was resuscitated and regained a pulse. He started breathing spontaneously and was taken to a hospital in Port Shepstone for further treatment.

In a separate incident, Botha said paramedics responded to a stabbing incident on Ridge Road in Margate.

They found an 18-year-old man lying on the ground with a stab wound to the chest. He was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities are investigating both incidents.
