Man fights for life after Durban bridge plunge

Durban – A man believed to be in his late thirties is fighting for his life after falling from the new Umgeni Road interchange in Durban on Sunday, paramedics have said.

Crisis Medical spokesperson Kyle Van Reenen said paramedics services arrived on the scene at 17:00 to find the man lying in the roadway in a critical condition.

"Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise him before he was placed on to a specialized stretcher for suspected neck and spinal cord injuries and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for the immediate definitive care he required.

"The facts surrounding the incident and the cause of the fall is unknown," he said.
