Butterworth - A farm worker was jailed for 20 years for raping a nine-year-old boy, by the Butterworth Regional Court on Tuesday, Eastern Cape police said.

The 36-year-old worked as a shepherd on the farm Madasa, near Butterworth, Captain Jackson Manatha said in a statement.

The boy, from Zizamele, Butterworth, visited him on 13 November 2015. The man raped him after telling him it was too late to return home.

The boy told his mother about the rape the following morning.
