Polokwane - A man was killed when his car was hit by a train at a level crossing at Lephalale Exxaro in Limpopo on Wednesday evening.

ER24 spokesperson Russell Meiring said when paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the wreckage of the car wedged against the train.

“On arrival, paramedics found a light motor vehicle smashed up against the front of a large train. The driver of the light motor vehicle had been pulled from the vehicle by CPF members,” he said.

“On assessment, paramedics found that the man had already succumbed to his fatal injuries. Unfortunately, nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead.”
