Pretoria – Police have launched a manhunt after a 27-year-old man was killed and a six-year-old girl wounded in a shooting in Olievenhoutbosch, west of Tshwane, on Tuesday evening.

Police said they were investigating a case of murder and attempted murder after they were alerted to a shooting on the corner of Kiaat and Wild Peach streets in Olievenhoutbosch Ext 21.

"The local police were informed about the shooting, and upon arrival they found that the victim had sustained bullet wounds on his upper body and he was declared dead by paramedics," said police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.

It also emerged that a 6-year-old girl was hit in the right leg by a stray bullet during the shooting.

Moloto said the girl was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.

"No one has been arrested as yet and the police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects."
