Man killed in early morning blaze in Gugulethu

Cape Town - A man was killed in a fire which destroyed four homes in Gugulethu early on Sunday morning, City of Cape Town Fire Services reported.

City of Cape Town Fire Services spokesperson Theo Layne confirmed that the blaze broke out shortly before 05:00 and was extinguished about half an hour later.

“Four wood and iron structures were destroyed with nine people displaced,” he said.

The body of the man was found at the scene.

Layne said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The matter has been handed over to police for further investigation.
