Durban - A man was shot and wounded outside a hospital in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban, on Friday night.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said a paramedic was on his way to work when he noticed three men trying to pull a man out of a car.

The paramedic was running to alert security at the hospital when he heard gunfire. He looked back and saw the three pull the man out of the vehicle. They left him at the scene.

Ambulances crews found the man lying in the road with a serious gunshot wound.

He was stabilised and taken to a provincial hospital.
