Johannesburg - A man died after he was shot multiple times at the Randburg taxi rank on Friday, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said on arrival, paramedics found a man lying near some shops close to the taxi rank.

The 30-year-old was declared dead on the scene.

"It is believed an unknown number of gunmen opened fire while the man was in his vehicle. He attempted to run towards the shops, but fell due to his wounds," Meiring said.

Investigations are ongoing.
