King William's Town - A man was stabbed to death in his home in King William's Town while his wife and a relative were allegedly preparing supper in the kitchen on Thursday night, Eastern Cape police said.

Captain Jackson Manatha said the 57-year-old man was found dead in his bedroom at Mabheleni Location, Candu Village, Dutywa.

The man’s wife allegedly left him alone in the room at about 21:00.

"They [later] knocked at the door with no response and when the wife pushed the door open, they found the [man]... stabbed to death."

The woman screamed and neighbours came to the house.

"The [man]... suffered upper body injuries. The motive for the murder remains unclear at this point," Manatha said.

No arrests have yet been made.
