Pretoria – The carwash employee who caused the death a woman and her unborn baby in August has not been charged yet, Netwerk24 reported on Tuesday.

The man wanted to move a Toyota Fortuner from one part of the carwash at a Gezina, Pretoria, filling station to another. He did not have permission to drive the vehicle.

He lost control of it and drove over Belinda Louw, 35, who was in the waiting area.

She was 38-weeks pregnant. Her unborn child died soon after the accident and Louw died in hospital eight days later.

The boy would have been called Ryan. He was scheduled to be born via caesarean section six days later.

Mother and child were buried together on September 1.

Police spokesperson Captain Coba Brits said police were still waiting for a pathology report before they could get a warrant for the man’s arrest.

They initially investigated a charge of reckless or negligent driving, but changed it to culpable homicide after Louw’s death.
