Johannesburg - A manhunt has been launched for suspects who robbed a group of foreign nationals, shooting and wounding one of them in Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Monday.

The group was on their way from Sandton to Or Tambo International Airport in a Toyota Quantum on Saturday evening when the robbers, travelling in a BMW, stopped them, Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.

They were searched and robbed of personal belongings, including jewellery and handbags. The robbers fled when they saw a police van. A shoot-out broke out and one of the foreigners was hit in the upper body.

Dlamini warned people not to confront the robbers as they were considered armed and dangerous.
