Media houses preparing for Oscar case

2015-12-08 06:58

Pretoria- Madiba Street in front of the High Court in Pretoria is a hive of activity as media houses make final preparations to broadcast the appearance of convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius.

About four broadcast vans have their satellites up with reporters making live crossings.

Marquee tents are also being set up across the road while camera people take up positions in front of the court gate.

Pistorius is back in the High Court ahead of formal sentencing proceedings. He will be resentenced after his culpable homicide conviction was overturned for a stronger conviction of murder by the Supreme Courts of Appeals last week in Bloemfontein.

The SCA’s ruling came almost three years after Pistorius shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp, later stating he mistook her for an intruder. He fired four shots into the bathroom door of his Pretoria home on Valentine’s Day in 2013.

He spent a year in prison and was released in October to serve the remainder of his five-year sentence under correctional supervision.
