Cape Town - Two men were arrested minutes after allegedly hijacking a delivery truck in Nyanga on Friday, Western Cape police said.

The driver was delivering beds in the area when two people pulled him from his vehicle and drove off with the cargo, said Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut.

Officers started searching the area after being informed by residents.

Shortly after, they spotted the hijacked vehicle without its cargo. The man in the driver’s seat was arrested after trying to escape.

He led officers to an address where another man was found with the stolen beds.

The pair, aged 25 and 35, were expected to appear in court on Monday.
