Polokwane – Two elderly women in search of firewood on Monday discovered the body of a 10-year-old girl who went missing in Capricorn Park, Morebeng, last week, police have said.

The body was discovered in a dense bushy area outside Ratsaka village, police spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto said.

"Members of the family identified the body as the missing girl but DNA testing will be done to confirm identity. The cause of death is also not yet known and a post-mortem will be conducted," he added.

Reneilwe Makomoto was last seen at around 14:00 last Tuesday when she was playing with friends.

Otto said that according to information received by police Reneilwe told her friends that she was going home but never arrived.

"Her friends also did not see her again," he added.
