Thohoyandou - More than 30 mobile classrooms have been delivered to help those pupils whose schools were burnt down or vandalised during protests in Vuwani, Limpopo.

They were being delivered around the clock for the next two weeks, provincial education department spokesperson Naledzani Rasila said on Thursday.

A total of 76 classrooms were being delivered to replace classrooms, offices and storerooms which were destroyed over the past two weeks.

Some schools would get more than others.

The department had bought 350 single and 220 double desks for needy schools and was also delivering other materials such as stationery and textbooks.

The protests started when, on April 29, the Masia Traditional Council lost a court application to set aside the Municipal Demarcation Board's decision to merge the underperforming Vuwani municipality with parts of the Malamulele municipality in the Vhembe district.
