Monday's weather: A fine start to the week for most of the country

It will be fine over most of South Africa on Monday, with showers expected over the coastal areas of the Western and Eastern Cape, the South African Weather Service says.

GAUTENG: Fine and warm. The expected UVB sunburn index will be high.

MPUMALANGA: Fine and cool, but warm in the Lowveld, becoming partly cloudy later.

LIMPOPO: Fine and cool to warm, becoming partly cloudy from the west later.

NORTH-WEST: Fine and cool, becoming partly cloudy in places in the afternoon.

FREE STATE: Partly cloudy and cool, but fine in the east.

NORTHERN CAPE: Fine and cool to warm, but partly cloudy in the central parts, spreading to the east by the afternoon. Isolated thundershowers are expected over the central parts in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly.

WESTERN CAPE: Fog is expected along the West Coast north of Lamberts Bay, otherwise cloudy with scattered rain and showers clearing in the west during the morning. Widespread showers are expected along the south coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate westerly along the south coast at first, otherwise fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly. The expected UVB sunburn index is low.

EASTERN CAPE: (Western half) Cloudy and cool with isolated showers, but with scattered showers along the coast and southern interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southwesterly becoming moderate south easterly in the evening.
(Eastern half) Partly cloudy and cool, becoming cloudy from the southwest, with isolated showers south of the escarpment.  Scattered showers are expected in the afternoon along the coast west of Kei Mouth. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southwesterly.

KWAZULU-NATAL: Fine and warm but cool in the south-west. The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly. The expected UVB sunburn index is moderate.
