Durban – Three men were arrested during an intelligence operation tackling rhino poaching, in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday evening, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

The men, aged 44, 28, and 24 years, were found with a high calibre hunting rifle, a silencer, ammunition and an axe, spokesperson Katlego Mogale said in a statement on Sunday.

Mogale said police were acting on information when they spotted a white Toyota double cab with the suspects inside.

The men are expected to appear in the Hluhluwe Magistrate's court on Monday on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
