More than 130 arrested in Gauteng during weekend blitz

Johannesburg – More than 130 people were arrested during weekend operations, including a man who allegedly killed another man at the Jeppe hostel in Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.   

The 32-year-old was stabbed several times during an altercation on Sunday morning, Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha said in a statement.  

A Chinese national was arrested for possession of abalone, two unlicensed firearms, and foreign currency valued at R2m.

The other arrests were for crimes like murder, business robbery, fraud, and drunken driving. 

All have appeared in various courts in Johannesburg.
