Johannesburg – A man died in a collision in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, on Friday despite attempts by members of the public to give him CPR.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, the motorcyclist, believed to have been in his 20’s, was involved in a crash at the corner of Sterling and William Nicol roads.

"Paramedics found that members of the public had already begun CPR on the man, who showed no signs of life," Meiring said, adding that paramedics then took over treatment and initiated advanced life support.

The man was, however, declared dead at the scene.

The exact cause of the accident is being investigated by police.
