Hazyview - The mutilated body of a 40-year-old man found dumped in a street in Mpumalanga on Wednesday has led to an "intensive investigation" into the gruesome murder.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Gerald Sedibe said in a statement the body was found by locals on a road at Tsakani Trust in Mariti near Hazyview at about 06:00.

"When police arrived at the scene, which is not far from the murdered man's house, they inspected the body and found that some body parts had been removed," he said.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was killed inside his house by the suspects, who dragged and dumped his body on the street."

No arrests have yet been made.
