Cape Town – Three members of a De Aar family have been found stabbed to death in their locked home, Northern Cape police said on Sunday.
Glenwill Makaleni, 40, Gladys Makaleni, 38, and their son Gladwill Makaleni, 10, were found in their Caroluspoort Street, Montana, home on Saturday morning, Captain Olebogeng Tawana said.
The bodies were found in different rooms of the house. A family member contacted police when she found the house locked and the couple failed to answer their phones.
He said all three had been "stabbed cold-bloodedly".
"The deceased's home was locked from inside. The investigation team had to cut off the burglar bars to gain entrance into the family’s house," he said.
It was believed the killings took place in the early hours of Saturday morning. It had not yet been determined how the attacker got in.
"No one has been arrested at this stage in connection with this atrocity," he said.
