Pretoria- A North West government MEC has been killed in a car accident outside Vryburg.
The provincial government has confirmed the death.

“One MEC has passed on due to an accident just outside Vryburg. We are at this stage not at liberty to release the name,” spokesperson Brian Setswambung told News24.

“There is a delegation that is on its way to officially inform the family. As soon as they have done that then we will be able to release the name.”

Information indicates that the accident happened on the N18 road in Vryburg. The car was allegedly approaching Vryburg from Mahikeng when it hit and fatally wounded a cyclist before rolling.

It is said the MEC whose identity is known to News24 was thrown out of the car in the process.
