Johannesburg - NSRI volunteers have joined the search for a woman who was swept down the Klein Jukskei River in Fourways, Johannesburg, last week.

Police had asked the organisation's volunteers on Saturday to help them find her, spokesperson Craig Lambinon said.

“NSRI Victoria Lake duty crew, a police dive unit, a police K-9 search and rescue squad and a police helicopter continued the search along the river. NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam launched rescue craft to search a section of the Hartbeespoort Dam and as far up the river as they could reach by boat.”

Despite the extensive search, she had not been found.

During a flash flood on Thursday evening, the woman's car got stuck on a flooded bridge. She apparently got out of the car to try and get to higher ground, but was swept down the river.
