Children's safety feared as Laudium protests flare up

Protest action erupted in the Iterileng informal settlement near Laudium on Wednesday morning. Residents are said to be demanding electricity installation for their homes.WATCH

Durban - Vehicles were damaged during protests in Ntshawini, north of Durban, which continued for a second day police said on Tuesday.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane, residents blocked the road using stones and burning tyres.

"They are complaining of service delivery. Some of the cars have been damaged. No arrest have been made at this stage and the police are still on the scene monitoring the situation."

UPDATE: Violent protests continue at hotspots across SA

It is believed that the community is up in arms over RDP homes in the area.
